Technical analysis is the study of past price and volume — via charts, patterns and indicators — to judge where price might go next. It assumes price action reflects all known information.
It contrasts with fundamental analysis, which looks at underlying value. Neither approach is a crystal ball; technical analysis deals in probabilities, not certainties, which is why risk management still matters.
