Pin bar — definition & meaning

A candle with a long wick showing rejection of a price level.

A pin bar has a small body and one long wick, showing that price was pushed to an extreme and then rejected back within the period.

A long lower wick suggests buyers stepped in; a long upper wick suggests sellers did. Pin bars near support or resistance are popular reversal signals, though like all patterns they can fail.
