Liquidity sweep — definition & meaning

A quick move to grab stop orders before reversing the other way.

A liquidity sweep (or stop hunt) is a sharp push beyond an obvious high or low to trigger clustered stop orders, before price reverses.

The idea is that large players need resting orders to fill their size, so they push into predictable stop zones. SMC traders watch for a sweep followed by a reversal as a possible entry — with tight risk, since sweeps can also be genuine breakouts.
