Chart shows no prices or is frozen: how to get data flowing

A blank or stuck chart usually means a data or connection problem. Here is how to restore live prices.

What is happening

The chart is empty, stuck on an old candle, or shows 'Waiting for update'. This almost always points to a break in the price feed rather than a problem with the chart itself.

Common causes

No connection to the server (check the bottom-right status). The market is closed for that symbol, so no new ticks arrive. The symbol was removed from Market Watch. A brief data outage. Or the platform needs to reload history.

Step-by-step fix

Check the connection status in the corner; reconnect if it is red. Confirm the market is actually open for that symbol via its specification. Make sure the symbol is present in Market Watch — right-click and 'Show All' if needed. Then refresh: change the timeframe and back, or close and reopen the chart to force it to reload data.

If prices still do not move during open hours with a good connection, restart the platform.

How to prevent it

Keep a stable connection, know your symbols' trading hours, and restart the platform occasionally if it has been running a long time.

Broker's fault or yours?

Usually connection or the market being closed — on your side or simply expected. Persistent missing data during open hours on a good connection points to a broker feed problem worth reporting.
